Continuous Open Bidding (COB) is a great option for eligible women interested in joining a sorority!
What is COB?
Continuous Open Bidding (COB), is a more casual recruitment process that involves you interacting with women of the chapter during sessions planned entirely by that chapter. Some events may include a movie night, cookie decorating, bowling, dinner at the chapter house and more. Overall, COB is not as structured as formal recruitment week.
When is COB?
COB occurs at the beginning of the Fall semester of the academic year and immediately following the completion of Formal Recruitment in January.
Which chapters participate in COB?
Not all of the chapters on our campus are eligible to participate in COB. Chapter eligibility depends on membership numbers and available spots within a sorority. Additionally, chapters who have space may choose not to do COB.
For more information, you can email firstname.lastname@example.org.
To be eligible to participate in COB, you must:
- Be a full-time, enrolled, Cornell University undergraduate student.
- Be a sophomore or older (for fall informal recruitment).
- Meet chapter academic standards (ask the chapter).
- Have not been initiated into another National Panhellenic Conference organization.
- Have not declined a bid through Formal Recruitment Spring 2015 or de-pledged thereafter.
How do I participate in COB?
Please contact Kaitlin Steinleitner, Panhellenic Vice President for Formal Membership Recruitment (email@example.com), to sign up for COB. You will be added to the list we distribute to chapters of women who have expressed interest in participating in COB. This is not a guarantee that you will be contacted by chapters or receive a bid. We encourage you to reach out to the chapter contacts above and let them know that you are interested and want to attend their recruitment events.
If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact Kaitlin Steinleitner (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Are there any events I can go to?
Yes!! Contact Kaitlin Steinleitner (email@example.com) for details.
