Founded in 1852 at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, Phi Mu is a women’s organization which provides personal and academic development, service to others, commitment to excellence and lifelong friendship through a shared tradition. It began as the Philomathean Literary Society, and is the second oldest secret society for women in the nation. The Philomathean Society became Phi Mu Fraternity in 1904.

Phi Mu promotes vibrant living, encouraging members to achieve their personal best. It is a values-based women’s organization founded on the principles of love, honor, and truth. The promise of our mutual efforts is a lifetime of sisterhood. We are individuals, leaders, philanthropists, and friends.
